About the School
The 15-acre school grounds is located in Thorpe town – Surrey region, just about 45 minutes from downtown London. The main Thorpe Palace building is built according to the style adopted by King George and where students can find the classrooms, the library (that has over 12 000 books), the dining room, bureau, the administrative office, and the common lounge. TASIS also has a theatre hall with 350 seats, an IT lab, a music and arts complex and a gym.

Accommodation
School campuses have bedrooms with 2 to 8 beds. Full board is provided. Part of the student rooms is located in the main building of the school. The rest of the rooms are in buildings dating from the 17th and 18th centuries, located nearby. Room allocation based on age and nationality.

Sport
Each student can choose a sport to practice during his staying here. The school has an excellent sports base: four outdoor tennis courts, two basketball courts and three for athletics, gardens and large lakes. All sports are included in the fee, except for archery, riding, water skiing, tennis and golf and climbing in the gym.

Trips
Depending on the type of camp chosen, themed tours are provided. Day-long trips are scheduled on Saturday and Sunday. London’s tourist attractions such as Chessington theme park, Oxford, Stonehenge, and Salisbury are visited. Also, shopping trips are organized in various popular places. For an additional fee, students can sign up for excursions to Alton Towers’ theme park, Edinburgh, Oxford, Cambridge, Paris. 

Two- or three-day Excursions
For an extra fee, students can sign up for excursions organized in Paris, Alton Tower amusement park, Edinburgh, Cambridge, Oxford.

Evening Program
Every evening a varied entertainment program is organized. On Fridays, students can go to musicals in London: "Jersey Boys", "Mamma Mia", " Opera Phantom",  "Stomp", "Wicked".

About the Courses

Training is done in small groups of 7 students. English and specialized courses are included. The teaching level is extremely high due to carefully selected teachers, as well as to the complex teaching method. In order to stimulate students to actively use English, additional classes are offered every week, choosing from the following fields of studies: Graphic Design, Programming, Art, Dancing, Digital Music, Theatre, Introduction to Robotics. In the evening, students are offered an hour for individual training and homework.

  • English and Entertainment (10 - 17 y/o): the general English course offers the possibility of fast progress due to the intensive training and the practice of language during sports and fun activities. 
  • Preparation for IELTS (15 - 17 y/o): the preparation is based upon the Academic Test Module. Students learn strategies in order to get a higher score on the four big components of the test: writing, speaking, listening/comprehension, reading. A minimum intermediate level is required. 
  • Science, Technology, Mathematics and Engineering (13 - 17 y/o): this course integrates concepts that are usually taught as separate subjects and emphasized the application of knowledge in real situations. The program focuses generally on real-world issues and on finding appropriate solutions, focusing on the project-based study.
  • Digital Photography (13 - 17 y/o) - London in Front of the Lens: the training includes getting in touch with the latest digital techniques, working in the darkroom, studio and also outdoor, stylistic techniques in using the camera, studying the creation of certain photographers. Students have to prepare three portfolios during the course and need to bring their own device. 
  • Creative English (10-12 y/o): Learning new languages through interactive classes is probably the most effective way of acquiring new knowledge. Participants will work in teams, have fun and learn English.
  • International Affairs (14 - 17 y/o): the global market has an impact on daily life and income worldwide. The course introduces students to the following fields: international trade, immigration, business travel, current themes, social label, import and export, career, economy and more.
  • Literature Adventures, the Experience of Exploring the Earth and Leadership Skills: this course includes notions about the art of literature,  reading and writing, mathematics and science. Organizational and leadership skills are integrated into the curriculum. Different academic subjects related to the three themes will be explored and studied, ending with a trip related to each theme.
  • TV Production (13 - 17 y/o): strong and persuasive, television has the power to change the course of history through its influence on viewers and the way it communicates information. Within this
  • students will learn to produce their own television program using standard technology and iMovie, Final Cut Pro and Quicktime.
  • Creative Drawing, Sketches and 3D Design (14 - 17 y/o): students will learn new techniques to express their creative ideas, work with Photoshop, oil painting, polishes, collages, templates. The technique of creating 3D layouts involves the use of paper and modelling cardboard.
  • Fashion and Textile Design (13 - 17 y/o): this combined study of fashion and textile design offers a unique opportunity to learn an master various textile design techniques including printing, weaving, felting, and sewing. You will also learn how to create garments, patterns and 2 or 3-dimensional installations using different methods, materials and hands-on techniques. Visits to London galleries and fashion locations will be an integral part of the course.
  • English Literature in Cinema (13 - 17 y/o): in this course, we will study several texts by famous writers such as Jane Austen, Shakespeare, Charles Dickens, J.K. Rowling, H.G. Wells, Robert Louis Stevenson, J.R.R. Tolkien, Arthur Conan Doyle. By viewing and discussing topics such as heroism, righteousness, love and betrayal, learners develop their analytical skills, creative writing, and the ability to express ideas through discussions and essays, while enjoying pursuing the screenings of the studied works.
  • Geometry (14 - 17 y/o): this six-week course includes in-depth training on Euclidean geometry, focusing on definitions, systematization of knowledge, inductive and deductive reasoning. Exercises also include an introduction to trigonometry and analytical geometry.
  • Writing Enhancement (10 - 17 y/o): the program aims to make students understand better and use a logical and clear structure when presenting their ideas and thoughts in English. The techniques of clarity in writing and oratory are practised through essays, discussions and debates.
  • Debate and Public Speaking (14 - 17 y/o): students learn various techniques of the logical and clear structure of ideas when they present their arguments, intonation, body language, visual contact. This way, they gain confidence and participate more effectively in debates.
