The course is a joint project of school teachers and lecturers from the International University of Management (ISM), which has four campuses and is one of the largest private business schools in Germany.

Accommodation

Host family
Accommodation is made in individual rooms with host families who live in different areas of the city. The distance to school is 40-50 minutes by public transport. They provide breakfast.

Hotels for youth - 2 stars
Located at 10-20 minutes by public transport to school. Individual rooms have private baths. They provide breakfast.

Hotels for youth - 3 stars
They are located at 10 to 20 minutes by public transport to school. Individual rooms have a bathroom and television. They provide breakfast.

One bedroom apartment

The apartments have approx. 20 m². Towels, bed linen, utensils, refrigerator, microwave, washing machine and more are provided. In case of cancellation, a fee of € 600 is charged. Distance to school is between 15 and 30 minutes with public transport. Students aged over 26 pay the announced prices. This type of accommodation is also available in Munich, where apartments are smaller - approx. 17 m² - prices on request.


Individual room  in apartment (18+)
If you choose this option, students are accommodated in individual rooms, apartments or studios, and use the bathroom and kitchen shared with the host family, the owner or others of different ages and nationalities, who are not necessarily registered in the language.

Leisure and trips
In their free time, the school organizes tours with sightseeing in cities like:

Berlin - boating on the Spree River, visit the Reichstag, Berlin Museum, "Check Point Charlie" Stasi Memorial and trips to Potsdam, Dresden and Baltic Sea.
Frankfurt - visits to the stock market, the European Central Bank, Commercial Bank Tower, automobile industry giant Opel, Goethe's house and tours in Heidelberg, Rudesheim and Wurtsburg.
Hamburg - port visits, the museum of spices, fish market, the church of Saint Michael, the museum in the city, and excursions aircraft plant in Bremen, Lubeck and the North Sea.
Munich - Modern Art Museum - Pinacoteca, Olympic Park, Deutsches Museum, BMV and Siemens factories, memorial at Dachau and excursions in Augsburg, Salzburg and Neuschwanstein Castle.

About courses

The course is a joint project of school teachers and lecturers from the International Management University (ISM), which has four campuses and is one of the largest private business schools in Germany. The program is a combination of a standard German language course, seminars on current topics and work on projects in the field of culture and civilization, under the guidance of ISM lecturers. During the seminars, discussions are held on topics related to the socio-cultural and economic life of Berlin, Frankfurt, Hamburg and Munich. By combining theory with practice, students have the opportunity to use German in real situations, enriching their cultural knowledge as well. In the free time, excursions and sightseeing are organized.

  • Activities scheduled in the morning: include 20 hours per week for all levels. Reading, Writing, Conversation and Listening skills are enhanced.
  • Seminars and workshops: Every week, a total of 4 lessons are held, which are teached by ISM lecturers. The program also includes time allocated to project work, for which students are divided into mini-groups. The themes are related to the socio-cultural and economic life of Germany. At the end of the course, a German language test is held and the projects are presented to the other teachers and students.
  •  Project: The project is being developed during the weekly seminars and its content is chosen according to the main theme of the city and the cultural visits and organized excursions.
  •  Project themes (examples):

 - Berlin - the Metropole: the past, the present and the future of the capital

- Frankfurt - Money, money, money: Germany's economic and financial life

- Hamburg -  The gate to the World: Globalization on land, water and air

- Munchen - In between the laptop and Leaderhosen

Final evaluation for ECTS credits: The German language test and presentation of the project at the end of the course follows a specially developed method. On their basis, the students receive a certificate of participation and an auxiliary document, which reflects their achievements and their route.
