About the School and Accommodation
LAS is one of the top schools in Switzerland, located in the Leysin mountain resort, at about 1300 m altitude. Language labs, computer room, libraries, arts centre, gymnasium and sports fields are available to students. Accommodation is made in comfortable rooms with 2 -  4 beds, with an en-suite bathroom.

Leisure and Excursions
Typical leisure activities include swimming, basketball, soccer and mountaineering. In the evening, students are divided into teams and can take part in games and competitions, disco nights, quizzes, bowling and much more. Every weekend, students can take trips to Lausanne, Geneva, Montreux, Bern, to the chocolate factory and many other activities, such as rafting, paddle boarding, paragliding and more.

About the courses

Students will have to choose a morning course and an afternoon activity. The courses (except for the French course), extra-school instructions and activities are held in English. Students are divided into groups according to their age, level of proficiency and abilities.
  Language Course: it includes 3 hours of English or French weekly, Monday to Friday and is suitable for all levels.
  Academic Programme: out of the following options, students will choose two courses:

Planning and Creativity
a. Business Plan - different topics on entrepreneurship are tackled; each student has the opportunity to create their own business plan.
b. Gastronomy – students learn about various recipes and how to combine different ingredients.

c. Eccentric Scientists and Inventors - learners will discuss topics such as art, technology, engineering and work on projects.
d. Journalism - students will learn about the inception of journalism.

Detection and Investigating
a. The Science of the Olympics and its Champions – students learn about the physiognomy, physiology and diet of Olympic champions.
b. Legends and Myths - learners study myths and stories from the history of different countries.
c. Important Events of History - students learn about events that have redefined the history of mankind.
d. Space Exploration - planets, astronomy, scientific discoveries, extraterrestrial life, and interplanetary travel are among the topics addressed in the course.

LAS Edge 13+: a new program aimed at 13-year-olds and above, which provides a platform for self-awareness and confidence-building. The course is divided into three modules, one for each week:
a. Innovation – students discuss various inventions and contemporary projects.
b. Compassion - discussing the problems modern society faces and what each one of us can do to help.
c. Responsibility – students learn about the notion of collective responsibility and self-awareness in everyday life.

 

Sports
a. Tennis - the program offers training for all ages and levels. Students improve their personal and social skills while interacting with coaches and other tennis players. It also studies the importance of nutrition and much more.
b. The Mountain Leadership Development Program (MLDP) - the program promotes environmental responsibility and awareness while developing resistance, trust, leadership and communication capabilities through a variety of outdoor activities such as orientation, mountaineering, Via Ferrata and many more.

 

Interest Clubs
During their stay, students can select a club of interest, with meetings in the afternoon, 4 times a week, which last for 2 hours. Available club options include: music (guitar, piano, DJ, musical mixing), film making, photography, robotics and coding, theatre and performing arts, culinary art, foreign languages (French, German, Spanish and Mandarin) and dancesport.
