About the School
Lancing is a boarding school, whose Gothic architecture is very similar to that of Oxford and Cambridge. Its imposing chapel is a Grade I listed building. The school is located on a hill and offers a great view of Brighton. Lancing features a modern café, a computer room with internet access and Wi-Fi, in some areas.

Accommodation on Campus
Students are accommodated in individual or double rooms with bathrooms on each floor. There are also several rooms with 3 to 7 beds.

Sports and Entertainment
The college has a gymnasium, three squash courts, a dance studio and other outdoor courts, including tennis courts. Various sporting and artistic activities are organized and, in the evening, students attend karaoke, disco and talent shows. On request and for a fee, a weekly activity can be chosen between: film and animation (July 7th, July 14th, July 21st, July 28th)

Sports Academy           
This course is recommended for beginner or medium level students. There are no advanced groups. The schedule may overlap with certain activities organized during leisure. Per week, students can choose one of the following:

adventure sports,football,golf,equitation,tennis, photogrphy, cooking, football

piloting (July 30th, 21tst);

fashion design (Jun 30th, July 7th, 14th, 21st, 28th)

dance( June 30th; July 7th,14th, 21st,28th; August 11th).

film and animation (July 7th, 14th, 21st, 28th)

 

Trips
Every week, one-day trips are organized, with sightseeing around London and half-day trips to Brighton, Worthing, Eastbourne, Hastings, Chichester.

Types of Courses

Intensive Course (30 hours / week): Through this course, students acquire confidence and fluency in English. Course lessons are structured as follows:

  • general knowledge of the English language, including grammar and vocabulary
  • developing language skills and understanding through advertisements, newspaper and magazine articles, radio and TV shows
  • working on projects - students gather information to prepare a project on the subject of the week and at the end they present it as a show, a story or a debate

Upon request and for a fee, sports and entertainment activities can be replaced with studying one or two subjects, depending on schedule and availability:

  •   Critical Thinking (30 Jun, 7, 21, 28 Jul)
  •   essay writing (7, 14, 28 Jul, 4 Aug)
  •   presentation (30 Jun, 14, 21 Jul, 4 Aug)
  •   economy (7, 14, 28 Jul, 4 Aug)

* For these materials the minimum level required is B1.

Preparation for the FCE and CAE Exams:(13 - 17 years,30 h/week)

The weekly study programme includes 20 hours of exam preparation and 10 hours of work on projects, in order to develop communication skills. The fee includes the taking the exam at the end of the course at Dicker School or at a nearby examination centre.
